Recently I had the chance to go the movie theatre with my friends and we decided to watch the Ghajini Movie which was just released during Christmas. He was shortlisted to attend the HR round. The HR asked him to sit on the chair. He sat. The interviewer gave him 2 options. I) Should answer for the 50 easy questions or II) Should answer 1 difficult question. My friend chose the latter one. The interviewer asked him "Which comes first?? Day or Night..". My friend after deep thought said "Day". The interviewer confusingly asked to justify my friend's answer. My friend simply replied "Sir.. U told that you would be asking only one question. I have answered to that question.. ".
The interviewer smiled at him. My friend was appointed in the company.

So far, I have only driven 2 wheeler vehicles such as bike and now I am all set to take my first steps in a car. I recently got my car license after I got my training from a reputed driving school. After many hassles with moving around my data, I have finally got myself an external hard drive. Its a Seagate FreeAgent Go 250 GB. I got it for about Rs.4200 and it comes with a 5 year warranty. Though I wanted to buy a drive with eSATA and Fireware, due to cost constraints, I had to settle for just an USB connector interface.
Since it is a portable 2.5" hard drive, just the USB cable is enough and no power cable is required. And it is significantly smaller than a conventional 3.5" desktop hard drive.
It had some software that came with it and enables automatic backups and a few other similar features. The first thing that I did was to delete that software and use the maximum space for my other junk data.
The write speeds were about 30 MB per second and peaked at about 50 MB per second. I havent yet checked the read speeds.
I am looking to hook it up to the DVD player and play movies through it. So its good bye and farewell to the DVDs and also to the 4 GB pen drive.

Another new milestone version of my favorite web browser Opera has been released. The alpha version of Opera 10 has been made available to end users.
I have always been a fan of the browser and this version just adds to the already excellent browser. The new version features a new rendering engine called Presto 2.2 and the browser scores 100/100 in the acid3 rendering test. The browser itself feels faster than the previous versions which was by itself faster than most browsers out in the market. Then inline spell checker has been added to the feature list and now the updates get automatically downloaded in patches and gets installed.
The only downside to the browser is no support for addons like Firefox does. Also some web developers dont check the code for correct functioning in Opera and results in improper rendering. For example creating a new post in blogger is a stripped down version of the normal one.

Last week my system got infected with virus. I used to be online 24X7. Periodically my system notified me an error message stating that my system got infected with a virus and needed to be removed. Google had launched new themes that can be used in gmail interface. There are about 20 themes totally and I had tried them all for my gmail account.
I tried one by one all the themes but the best theme that I liked was that of the default one. Perhaps I prefer the no frills and only substance style of interface. But I felt that the other seas and mountain themes are over the top with their bright colors and not so easy readability. Even the default them has been modified a bit.
Even in the social networking site Orkut, when Google introduced these themes, I was not eager to set those in-your-face type of themes as even today I have the simple and plain old blue color themed orkut theme for my profile.

Well it been raining price cuts and cost reductions from the government. Just after the announcement of oil price cuts, the government has yet again announced another price cut in the form of VAT reduction.
The government has reduced the 4 % Cen VAT for automobiles and electronic items. This should result in significantly cheaper products to the end customers. The price cut is not forced to be passed on to the customer from the manufacturer but many manufacturers are expected to lower their prices with economy lagging beind the production capacity.
Several car manufacturers have already announced about their reduction in car prices and this amounts to about Rs.8000 to Rs.15000 cut in the total cost of the vehicle. Similarly some electronic goods manufacturer like Samsung has already announced price reduction for thier LCDs and plasma televisions.
Finally the government has atleast taken some steps towards reducing the oil prices and keeping it near the international levels. The government recently announced a Rs.5 cut in the petrol prices and Rs.3 for diesel prices.
This makes the petrol to be priced at around Rs.50 for a litre compared to the previous Rs.55. The exact cost may vary in each state as different tax structures are applied.
The expectations of the price cut were much higher from the public and even newspapers predicted about Rs.10 reduction for a litre of petrol and about Rs.5 for a litre of diesel. As of now more price cuts are expected to follow if the current oil prices prevail for some more time or lower even further. Recently I faced a shocking incident where one of my friends was diagnosed with some disease related to the lung.
