Audi R8 to be launched next month at 1.17 cr

By Praveen Edburg | Saturday, October 18, 2008

There has been a mix of good and bad news by Audi recently. The good news is that Audi, the German automobile maker, has announced its plan to launch its super car R8 in India during the next month of November. The price is said to be 1.17 crore rupees. Well the bad news is that the car has already received orders for 15 cars and it is sold out as of now.

The car is to be imported as a completely built unit(CBU) directly from Germany. During the press conference, Audi has mentioned that the luxury market segment has been growing steadily in India and Audi’s share of the segment has been growing higher than that. The number of models that it sold also increased much more than the previous year. The number dealership is to be expanded from 7 to 12 very soon. It already sells A4, A6, A8, TT and Q7 luxury cars in India.

The specifications of this car are mighty impressive. The 4.2 liter V8 engine produces a massive 420 PS of power with 430 Nm of torque. It also features four wheel drive system and has a 6 speed gearbox. It reaches a top speed of 300 kmph and does 0-100 kmph in 4.6 seconds. It features an all aluminium body and weighs about 1500 kgs.

Priced at Rs.1.17 crores, I can only drool at this machine as of now.

Car manufacturers hoping that fuel prices dont lower further

By Praveen Edburg | Wednesday, October 15, 2008

The situations are changing very quickly it seems. There used to be a time when car manufacturers were worried about the rising fuel prices since the customers refrained from buying or driving fuel gusling cars. The SUVs and fuel guzzlers were seen as non-green and their sales fell drastically forcing manufacturers to focus on other fuel means.

Now just when manufacturers have invested a lot on the alternate fuel engine developments, the oil prices have fallen down the sky to about $80 a barrel from around $150 a few months ago. If this lower crude oil prices continue or even lower due to the US recession, then people may again prefer the traditional fuel methods and SUVs. This will be quite a blow to the manufacturers who have invested a lot of funds and R&D into alternate fuels. They may be forced to once again compete in the traditional fuel category thereby needing to transfer a lot of investments and research once again back to petrol/diesel.

Worse is the situation of manufacturers like Ford who have literally closed down production of trucks and SUVs in anticipation of less demand from the public.

Unless a very good and efficient alternate fuel car comes along, which is very unlikely in a short period, this entire market may have to cope with fluctuating oil prices and unstable people's car buying attitude.

They are the dealers for the areas Wellesley, Marlboro, Natick, Needham, Milford, Framingham and MA. They claim to have all models of new and used Nissan cars and if in case it is not available, they can probably get one for you.

There are plenty of cars made for specific users in mind. The Nissan Sentra combines luxury with performance. The Nissan Xterra and Murano provide roomy and stylish transportation. And then there is the Nissan Z which is the ultimate sports car with thrilling performance. It has to be experienced to be believed.

The Nissan VQ engines of V6 configuration have featured among the Ward’s 10 best engines for 12 years in a row, ever since the award’s inception. And after purchasing a new or used Nissan car, you can schedule Nissan Service using the online reservation tool for Framingham Nissan Dealership. The new Honda city

By Praveen Edburg | Friday, October 10, 2008

It been quite a while that Honda has been sticking around with the 2nd generation city.It completely lacked in several features compared to the Maruti SX4.Since it has the badge of Honda and along whcih comes quality and reliability,it has been selling in decent numbers.

But it seems Honda had been working on the new city quite hard. The new city is certainly a stunner. Not only it looks great but also has equally capable engine and the features. The grill seems to have taken cues from the new Accord. The boot seems to be cut short from the outside but has tremendous space on the inside.

The moot points of older city, like the not-so-great design, less powerful engine and the lack of driving pleasure has been taken care of for good. The 1.5l vtec engine produces 118 bhp of power and the steering system has been altered to increase the driving pleasure.

Though the city is usually prices higher that its competitors, this one is sure to cause a lot of worries for the verna,fiesta,sx4 and the yet to be launched linea.
