I seems Nokia is currrently concentrating on the mid-range mobile phones. They have announced 3 mid-range to lower range phones - the 6700 classic, 6303 classic and the 2700 classic.

The 6700 classic is the top of the line platform for the s40 paltofrm with a 5 MP auto focus camera, GPS and Nokia maps. It comes with 2,2" QVGA screen but however Wi-Fi is absent.

The 6303 classic is a mid-range performer with a 3 MP camera and a 2.2" QVGA display. It is very slim as well.

To round off the things, the 2700 classic is the budget phone with the common 2 MP camera and 2" screen.

The metro rail project that had been proposed in the city of Chennai has been finalised and is all set to be completed by the year 2015. All other formalities except land aquisition has been completed. 

The proposed metro rail route will encompass 2 routes going through the important areas in Chennai. A part of the route will be underground and another part will be elevated.

The service is expected to reduce the traffic congestion as more people will prefer the metro rails as it will reduce the travel time required.

But as usual, I expect the project to get delayed by a few more years as is the usual with almost all other projects.

We have just planned all about our dream house that will be built very soon in this year. I just came across a new and unique social networking site called Acobay and I have just joined it after being recommended by some of my friends. There may be already a lot of social networking sites floating around but what impressed me with this specific site is the nice and clean look of the site and the ability to focus on just some of the interested topics rather than having a vague distinction between the topics.

I have just added some of the stuffs like my mobile phone (Nokia 6233), my car (Suzuki Swift) and the favorite movies that I am interested in. I got to meet a lot of other people who share the same interests as mine such as the Acer Aspire One netbook. After adding my stuffs, I get to be connected with other people who have similar interests as mine and get to know about their views on the product. Right now I have about 69 people in my network. This isn’t the end of the feature list as there are lots more and the site being in beta stage now, a lot of other improvements can be expected.

As of now, the only negative thing about this site is that there are not that many users and hence in some of the stuffs that I added I was the only person interested in it. Recently I faced a lot of problems while performing currency conversions. I have a few dollars in paypal and when i tried to convert the US dollars into Indian rupees, the conversion amount was a lot less than the actual value.

I had to withdraw the funds to my bank account and so I had the option of letting paypal do the conversion or to transfer the funds to my bank cards and let them do the conversion. But to transfer funds to the debit card, paypal charges a sum of $5 and I was not sure about the conversion amount that will be used by the bank. So I decided to use paypal's conversion as I feel that for small amounts, paypal conversion is better and for large amounts, the conversion by the bank should be better.

Acer India has reduced the prices of its netbook, the Aspire One, by almost Rs.5,000 and now it is priced at around Ra.15,xxx before taxes.

The Aspire One netbook was one of the successful netbook models and although it is a limited period offer, its price reduction should force other market players to reduce their corresponding netbook models.

The main disadvantages of this model will be the lack of bluetooth, only a 3 cell battery and a below average camera.

I was once again into a shopping spree and this time it was for my sister who was into buying some makeup products. I was looking to jack up the coolness of my brother’s car and wanted to add a nice audio equipment to the car. In this age of economic mishap, the situation for many large companies are not so good and some of them have so far filed bankruptcy and have gone broke. In India, 3G has not yet been made available and mobile users are left with incredibly slow GPRS/EDGE network speeds. Although the buzz about the launch of 3G has been going around for a very long time, it is yet to be materialized.

So far only the government owned companies like MTNL and BSNL have been allocated the spectrum. The rest of the private players are to be allocated he spectrum on basis of a auction which has been already been delayed a few times and the date which was set to be January has also been delayed as the government has suggested a new revision in the increase of the prices.

It seems quite unfair to the private run companies as the state run ones will have the benefit of a quicker launch and lower expense in buying the spectrum.

Only MTNL has so far tested the 3G operation and launched it a few weeks back in the nation capitol Delhi and is yet to be made available in a wide network.

The Fiat Linea has finally arrived in the showrooms and is all set to be test drived and delivered in 1 or 2 weeks time.

I had been going across a Tata showroom recently and saw a Linea on display. I was surprised and gave it a second look by visiting the showroom. The Linea was large and lovely in appearance and impressed me. I loved the side profile looks and the head on look was kinda odd but ok for me. The rear looks decent too.

I guess just like the Hyundai i20, the specialty of the car is the features available. Had a lot of features including the exclusive Blue & Me that allows connecting to a mobile phone to car audio system. The dash and dial did not manage to impress me. Only a test drive can say things about the 1.3l multijet engine.

The top end diesel variant costs around 9 lakhs on road and is named as emotion. The active and dynamic are the other lower end variants.

If the after sales service picks up, then this car could be a major competitor in this segment which has so far been dominated by Honda City.
