The metro rail project that had been proposed in the city of Chennai has been finalised and is all set to be completed by the year 2015. All other formalities except land aquisition has been completed.
The proposed metro rail route will encompass 2 routes going through the important areas in Chennai. A part of the route will be underground and another part will be elevated.
The service is expected to reduce the traffic congestion as more people will prefer the metro rails as it will reduce the travel time required.
But as usual, I expect the project to get delayed by a few more years as is the usual with almost all other projects.
