About an year ago, the Nokia N95 made waves of being the most technologically advanced mobile phone around and indeed it was. Then came the announcement of its successor called N96 which excited many people. The phone specification list was nothing extraordinary from its predecessor but had quite a few punches of its own.
Then almost an year passed by without the phone being launched and at last when the time came, it was too late and it had already become outdated. The competitor phones like the Samsung INNOV8 was clearly ahead of the Nokia N96 and while many hoped that it will compete in the price category, it still was prices ridiculously and the fact that it lacked the 3D hardware of N95 and smaller battery made things further hard for Nokia to sell any. It did have several additions over the N95 like mobile TV, better USB speeds, internal memory of 16 GB but its specifications did not attract buyers because of the above reasons.
Now people have started to expect a better high phone from Nokia like one with 8 MP camera, touch screen, OLED, etc. While those looking to purchase immediately are going for either for INNOV8 or the SE C905 or Xperia. Either way Nokia's strategy with the N96 was a huge flop and people expected better from the company.
