Suzuki to follow Yamaha with its own super bikes

After Yamaha has had its much needed brand booster with its super bikes such as the R1 and the MT01, it has become quite successful with its common man bikes of 150cc. It seems Suzuki is all set to follow Yamaha’s foot steps very soon.

It has been revealed that Suzuki plans to introduce its higher end bikes such as the Hayabusa at the end of this year. The brand value of Suzuki has been low key in India so far with its motorbike not selling very well. Although these kinds of motorbikes priced at 10+ lakhs are hard to sell even at double digit figures each month, as brand hype, these models should help a long way in selling the other lower end models.

The first higher segment to be launched very soon is the Hayabusa which is a great sports bike and is capable of crossing the 300 kmph barrier. It is expected to be available for about 12 lakhs. The other bikes with 1 liter plus engine capacity will follow suit. A 600 cc motorbike is also set to be launched along them.

I think its much better for these manufacturers to launch a bike with around 250-500 cc engine capacity and kick ass styling at price ranges less than 2 lakhs to be able to sell a considerable amount of those models. There is no model above the 225 cc engine size variant and it would have been great to cash in on that. The models at around 10 lakhs won’t get that many buyers in our country and can only be used a brand hype models.
