So far in the OS market, XP has been primarily prevailing as the market leader and with Windows Vista, people with powerful system configuration are slowly migrating to the new OS while those with not-so-powerful hardware are looking at Linux market.
With the introduction of netbooks recently, it has opened a whole new market for specific kind of market. In these small devices, Linux has been the OS used primarily with only very few opting for the Windows XP. Windows Vista is rather too heavy for these miniature low powered devices.
Now Microsoft is making sure that its own OS doesn't get left behind in this market and has showcased its next gen OS windows 7 to be running pretty well in a netbook like config.
With laptops having outsold desktops recently, the industry is hoping that netbooks will command a decent market space in the near future and OS makers doesn't want to left behind in this growing industry.
