Ubuntu 8.10 to be released next week

The widely popular Ubuntu OS is all set to launch a new minor update for the 8.04 version. Codenamed as Intrepid Ibex, this version 8.10 is set to include 3g Networking support, update to the virtualization support and user management tweaks.

For those who cannot wait for the final version to be released, there is a Release Candidate version for this 8.10 version. My views are that this version does not have any thing that significant for the common man to update from his 8.04 version. But for those whom the changes are important and want the latest and greatest, this does seem a valuable upgrade.

I have used the earlier 8.04 version and found it quite good and a possible replacement for my main OS. I was hoping that they changed the default theme but it doesn't seem to be. The new visual partition editor during installation is a welcome addition.
