As the rains have started, once again the roads have been flooded with water logging all thanks to the corporation who fail to avoid the same instances over many years. Due to the water logging, many people face lots of problems. The pedestrians face the fear of water splashing all over them when a vehicle crosses them. But the serious issue right now is for the motorists and car drivers.
Apart from having to face endless traffic jams, they also have to take care of avoiding their vehicles from getting struck in the water. Every year due to the floods a lot of cars face serious engine damages. Here is how to avoid those instances.
First of all the best way to avoid this is not to take your vehicle out in heavily flooded areas. But for those that cannot be avoided, always keep watch for the water level in the road. If water level is higher than or even close to half the size of the wheel or above the body of the car, do not make an attempt to cross that road at any means. Also take into consideration of the low lying roads at some points and huge potholes.
If you had already gone into the flood of water and you think that the water level is dangerously high, make sure that you keep the engine revving to make sure that water doesn’t enter the exhaust pipe. In such situations, water may enter into the engine through the exhaust pipe. If that happens the engine shuts down. And now comes the important part. Do not try to restart the engine. If you do, the engine will try to compress the water and burn it inside its chambers. But since water cannot be compressed, it will lead to one or more pistons breaking or bending due to the force exerted in it. This will require a total engine replacement which will cost a bomb.
