My new desktop computer purchase

I was recently on the hunt for a good replacement for my age old P4 desktop computer. I started comparing various products prices and then read the reviews for the products from a variety of websites.

I then almost decided on the peripherals that I am going to buy as choosing them was rather easy. I had chosen 2 x 1 GB DDR2 RAM of 800 MHz for Rs. 1900 as I felt I can upgrade the RAM easily. Also the price difference between 667 and 800 MHz RAM was not that much, so I decided the higher speed memory.

Then for the DVD writer I chose Samsung 20x SATA as it had the highest write speed and lower price. For the hard disk, I chose Seagate 250 GB SATA one for Rs.2250.

The minor upgrades such as web camera, a good keyboard and mouse were also purchased.

The real hard part was choosing the platform whether Intel or AMD. Choosing the processor and motherboard was very difficult. Then after several comparisons I made a decision to purchase AMD platform. The reason was for the Gigabyte 780G chipset based motherboard. It was simply great. It had great performance and had an amazing value for money. The processor I chose was an Athlon X2 dual core as I thought that it will be enough to suffice for my needs.
