Laptops ? Nah they are too bulky

What is the one word that is usually associated with laptops or notebooks - portability. But with the recent trend, portability has been taken to an all new level by the new even smaller computers produced by the manufacturers.

The reason for emergence of these kinds of devices is that laptops failed to satisfy its requirement completely. Many users don't prefer to carry around a laptop with them where ever they go as it is not portable. There are palmtops for this kind of people but ever since they have been introduced, lackluster performance, features and non-acceptance by the people have made it a big flop.

This is the reason why one manufacturer Asus decided to try launching a product that is between a palmtop and a laptop called as an Eee PC and it turned to be an instant hit. It was small, portable, provided decent battery life and had almost everything a laptop can possibly have yet be cheaper. Sounds like a nice recipe for instant success, isn't it?

That's how Asus has created this latest trend with its Eee PC line-ups. The recent ones run on Intel Atom processors which perform better and save power more than the older Celeron ones. As of now there are a lot of different models in the Eee PC line-up which differ in the screen sizes, bundled storage and included connectivity option.

Seeing this popularity of these kinds of devices, many manufacturers have followed the trend and launched their own versions of these mini-laptops. My guess is that these devices will gain a lot of ground from traditional laptops and their popularity is set to increase in the near future.
