The higher end N-series devices that were recently announced by Nokia have now been launched and are available in the retail market.
For starters, both N79 and N85 are high-end smartphones which contain the following characteristics.
- 5 MegaPixel camera with autofocus and carl-zeiss optics with dual LED flash.
- VGA video recording
- GPS and A-GPS
- Symbian OS v9.3 s60 3rd edition FP2
- Wi-fi
- TV-out
- FM transmitter
And the usual things like 3.5 mm audio jack, HSDPA, microSD, USB and Bluetooth.

The feature which sets apart the n85 is the AMOLED display which has more contrast and therefore better display quality. It does not need any backlights and so saves power usage. It has a screen size of 2.6” and includes an 8 GB memory card in the package. It is also a dual-slider.
The n79 is for the fashion conscious which is obvious by the fact that it has replaceable back covers and the theme changes automatically according to which back panel has been set. It has a 2.4” display and has a 4 GB memory card in the package. It is a bar shaped phone.
The n79 is available for a price of Rs.19,750 and the n85 is available for Rs.23,500 both of which are quite cheap for a newly launched high end model.
