The city of Chennai has returned back to its old self - scorching heat. After a couple of weeks where the rains poured heavily and inundated the roads, the city is yet to recover fully from the wet conditions with some interior areas having water logged streets because of clogged drainage pipes.
It is does not matter whether the season is summer or winter in Chennai, it always is hotter here. There is a popular saying that goes like this - Chennai has 3 seasons which are hot, hotter and hottest.
The city being in a coastal area gets much humidity from the seas and this causes a lot of uneasiness in hot conditions. As the city is expanding very rapidly, the tree covers are being removed and the pollution levels are increasing.
If its like this in the winter season of December, one can only imagine about the conditions that will prevail in the summer months of may and such.
