There is currently an XML Challenge going on in which those interested can participate, learn and win several prizes. The prizes consist of laptops, iPods, memory sticks and many more.

The competition itself consists of five different contests that have been aimed for both students and professionals. Each contest has its own set of prizes and recognition. The skills which may be needed to pass this challenge will be interest in XML and database technology and very good programming skills in DB2. All participants are required to undertake a quick quiz for one time when they first participate in this challenge. This quiz does not need database or XML skills to get through.

• Gadget contest which involves in developing a downloadable gadget or a widget leveraging DB2.
• Query contest where one is required to use Xquery to find 5 answers.
• Ported App contest where one must port or develop a new app for DB2.
• XML2 contest where one can win by building a useful and friendly XML app from scratch.
