The considerations for the new monitor

By Praveen Edburg | Wednesday, December 03, 2008

As I had previously mentioned in my post that I was looking to buy a new monitor, I had gone to the shops to inquire about the various options that I have. There were quite a few numbers of monitors available. There were various models from Dell, Samsung, Viewsonic, Acer, LG, Benq and few other not so popular brands.

In the 22” category, the ones I liked were from Dell, Samsung, Viewsonic and Benq. While the Viewsonic model was great in the additional features available such as USB ports, headphone jacks, etc I dint find the quality of display to be that good compared to the other models. The one from Samsung T220 was looking beautifully and had great 2 ms response time but the resolution was lower and the price was a bit on the higher side.

So I had finally decided to choose between the Dell and Benq models. Both the models had a full HD resolution display of 1980 x 1080 and were very similar in their display properties as well. I had a hard time choosing between them as the Benq model had HDMI port which the Dell one lacks but I felt the Dell displays were a bit better in after sales service.

The Benq model E2200HD was priced better than the Dell one and so I finally went with the Benq one.
