Hooking up to a LCD TV

Just playing some movie in a LCD TV may be a pleasant experience but deciding the source from which to play the movie can be a very confusing and tedious task. I faced this situation in my home where I wanted to play a high definition movie.

The various options that I had were

  • Connecting my PC to the video input of the LCD TV
  • Playing through the DVD player with the DVD disc (not high definition)
  • Playing through DVD player with the USB port with either a pen drive or an external hard drive (again not high definition).
  • Playing through the traditional cable connection or the Satellite TV options.
The PC was the most versatile solution capable of doing just about anything. But it required the PC to be near by the television. The other options were rather easy to configure but was not as versatile as the PC. So in the end, I ended up borrowing my friend's laptop and played the movie through the video out connection. It combines the best of all the worlds.
