Intel has revealed roadmaps that indicate the future course of the Atom processors. The Atom processors are the ones designed by Intel especially for lower power consumption and it is currently doing majority of the duty in the popular netbook segment.

The Pineview processors based on Atom architecture has already been announced where Intel had said that it will integrate a GPU core and memory controller in to the processor die. This will be released sometime in the next year.

A newer such processor following the Atom footsteps will be the one codenamed Medfield that will be made available in 2010. These processors will be manufactured in 32 nm process from the currently being used 45 nm process. These CPUs will integrate the memory controller, I/O and a graphic chip into the processor die. These are expected to be even more power efficient and handle multimedia task much better than the present ones.
